QFest NJ LGBT Film Festival

March 20, 2016 (Ocean Grove, NJ) – QFest New Jersey LGBT Film and Digital Media Festival is pleased to announce the 2016 Screening and Event Schedule for this year’s premiere event on April 1, 2 & 3. QFest will be held at QSpot LGBT Community Center, 66 S. Main Street, Ocean Grove, NJ. For the full screening schedule and to purchase tickets visit QFestNJ.org.

FRIDAY, APRIL 1 – QFest’s OPENING RECEPTION will feature a live performance by Danae singing her nominated music video WASHED IN BLUE.  The reception will be followed by QFest’s kick-off film CLAMBAKE, a lighthearted, yet serious look at the 30-year history of Women’s Week in Provincetown directed by Andrea Meyerson.  A Q&A with Special Guest Clambake Producer Lynn Mogell, Women Innkeepers Association of Provincetown and U.S. Representative Sarah Peake from Massachusetts will follow the screening.  BRAM, a short film directed by Henry Andres Disotuar Colombat will precede Clambake.

SATURDAY, APRIL 2 –  Beginning at 12 pm, screenings will be held on two screens throughout the day. Refreshments and food will be available at QFest headquarters located within QSpot LGBT Community Center. For the full screening schedule and to purchase tickets visit QFestNJ.org.

FROM SELMA TO STONEWALL, a documentary about “a black, straight preacher and a white, lesbian activist” detailing the civil rights and LGBT equality movements directed by Marilyn Bennett will be screened at 4 pm.  The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Special Guest Director Marilyn Bennett and Reverend Gilbert Caldwell, featured civil rights leader in SELMA.

The QFEST AWARDS RECEPTION on Saturday, April 2 at 6 pm will include a special performance by Christine Martucci singing her nominated music video COME INSIDE.  The reception will be followed by a screening of KISS ME, KILL ME, a star-studded West Hollywood gay murder mystery directed by Casper Andreas featuring Gale Hurd (Queer as Folk), Jai Rodriquez (Queer Eye) and Van Hansis (As the World Turns).

SALVATION, a short film about so-called “conversion therapy” from first time student Director Ryan Hess will precede Kiss Me.  A Q&A with Special Guest Director Ryan Hess and SALVATION co-stars John Brodsky and Corey Camperchioli will follow.

SUNDAY, APRIL 3 – Festival screenings will be held on two screens throughout the day.  Refreshments and food will be available at QFest headquarters located within QSpot LGBT Community Center.  For the full screening schedule and to purchase tickets visit QFestNJ.org.

At 11 am, QFest will host an INDUSTRY BREAKFAST and discussion.  Featured participants include Tony Pemberton, Montclair State University Department of Film Chair, Lise Raven, MSU Assoc. Prof of Film, AJ Russo from MAJOR! and Ryan Hess, Director of Salvation.

At 12 pm, MAJOR!, the story of one woman’s journey, a community’s history, and how caring for each other can be a revolutionary act will be screened. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Special Guest A.J. Russo and Ceyenne Doroshow from MAJOR!
