QSpot Holds Sexual Violence Prevention Meetings With LGBTQ Law Enforcement and 50+ Community Providers
QSpot held its first Sexual Violence Prevention community meetings with members of the New Jersey LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaisons and 50+ LGBTQ community service providers and stakeholders. The gatherings were part of QSpot’s grant to provide regional coordination of a statewide project to reduce and eliminate sexual violence for LGBTQIA+ community members. Representatives from various police, corrections and sheriff’s departments, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office, as well as Neptune Township, Borough of Matawan, Monmouth University, Rutgers University, and 180 Turning Lives Around (Monmouth County’s lead domestic violence agency) were in attendance.
Support for this community initiative is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Rape Prevention and Prevention Education (RPE) grant funds, administered by the Department of Children and Families, Division on Women and implemented by the Rutgers University School of Public Health.
Sexual violence (SV) is a serious problem that can have lasting, harmful effects on victims, survivors, their families, friends, and communities. Sexual violence impacts every community and affects people of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations. CDC’s goal is to stop SV from happening in the first place.
The project is divided into 5 New Jersey regions: North, South, Central, North Shore, and South Shore. QSpot will be coordinating the project in the North Shore region encompassing Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
