NJ Department of Children & Families Institutes LGBTQI Policy
On September 8, 2015, the New Jersey Department of Children and Families for the first time instituted an LGBTQI policy. This policy will guide DCF’s work meeting the needs of LGBTQI youth in their care.
Members of DCF’s volunteer LGBTQI Community Advisory Committee, including John Mikytuck, QSpot’s Executive Director, worked with DCF for over two years to develop and advocate for the policy.
“We’re thrilled that New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families has instituted an LGBTQI policy,” said Mikytuck. “I salute DCF’s efforts to better serve the needs of LGBT youth in their care, many of whom have been rejected at home or in their communities, and will continue to assist the department as it institutes the training necessary to support the new policy.”
